Notes

GWR 10 ton 5 plank Open Wagon with iron underframe. Built 18/10/1902 to lot 390, diagram 04, a development of the four plank design by the provision of a fifth plank.
Fitted with the first version of the Dean/Churchward ratchet brake (DC1). Reconstructed on lot 1195 in 1936.
Sold by BR(WR) in 1950, probably to British Waterways Board, Sharpness from who it was purchased in flat wagon form by the GWR 813 Fund in 1996.
Subsequently moved together with 52243 to the AVR.
These two vehicles, together with the later built Open Wagons at Bitton (86582 built in 1912 and 10931 built in 1913)
form an interesting group representing the development of GWR Open Wagon design in the years prior to the First World War.
